|
Lexi is delightful bitch who belongs to our friend Dawn Watts. Dawn and Lexi are regulars at Training4dogs and we have had the pleasure of watching Lexi develop from an ethusiastic and eager youngster into a happy, willing and beautiful young lady. This is Lexi's second litter with Severus, we were delighted when in her first litter she produced 8 strapping babies who have certainly inherited their parents good looks, happy natures and apptitude for training. |

The Sire of Lexi's litter is our charming and very relaxed dog, Severus (Mastamariner Potion Master). Severus is very laid back, people oriented and wonderfully keen to please, he passed out top of his puppy class and passed his Bronze Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme test at 6 months of age, his Silver award at 9 months and his Gold award at a year old. Severus is very busy chap, in addition to being the resident comdian at Mastamariner he also has a very important job as customer relations manager for Training 4 dogs, in this capacilty Severus is responsible for working with temperamentally challenged dogs and for carrying out character and behavioural assessments for Training 4 Dogs and for the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme. Severus' has sired a number of litters and we are delighted with the apptitude and character of his offspring. Two of his daughters has completed their Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Sheme Gold Awards at 6 and 7 month of age respectively.

Lexi will be wormed daily with 5ml of Panacur from the 38th day of her pregnancy and will continued to be wormed at this dose until the puppies had completed their first worming at 2 weeks of age. The puppies will be wormed at 2, 4 and 6 weeks of age, a programme that is formulated to ensure that the puppies are born and remain free of worm infestation throughout their infant lives. Dawn provide a Worming Certificate detailing each puppy's worming history and recommend an ongoing worming programme to enable new puppy owners to keep their companions worm free for life. Hips When considering a puppy from a breed such as the Golden Retriever which is susceptible to hip dysplasia, prospective owners should seek a puppy from parents each of whose total hips scores are below the average total hip score for the breed. Such selection does not eliminate the possibility of hip dysplasia developing in a dog or puppy but may play a part in significantly reducing the likelihood of this disease. The breed average for Golden Retrievers is 19, in total, for both hips, i.e, left hip score + right hip score = 19.
Golden Retrievers are susceptible to a number of eye diseases and abnormalities some of which may affect sight and some of which may be inherited. It is never possible to guarantee that puppies will not suffer from eye problems because although their parents may have been regularly tested some problems only appear later in life (late onset) and may not be apparent until a dog or bitch has produced many offspring. Some eye conditions are inherited recessively which means that although both parents may test clear of a particular condition those same parents may carry the potential to produce eye problems in their progeny. Both Lexi and Severus have been eye tested and are unaffected by all the conditions currently thought to produce inherited eye problems in the Golden Retriever.

The appropriate person to advise you on health issues affecting dogs is your veterinary surgeon. We require all prospective owners to consult a veterinary surgeon regarding potential health issues in the golden retriever before considering ownership of any puppy we breed.
